Protect the Rights of the Child
To date, 193 nations have ratified the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), a treaty that lays out a comprehensive set of rights for children, and recognizes the essential role and importance of parents and families in their development. It is the most widely accepted human rights treaty in history... yet the United States has yet to ratify it.

Tell President Obama: it's time to protect the rights of children!

Hi Annisa,
Happy Passover! Time to send your Passover eCards!
DID YOU KNOW?
Passover, (or Pesach, which means "Passing Over" or "Protection"), originated as a spring nature festival in ancient times, and gradually changed into a memorial of the Jews' springtime deliverance from the land of Egypt, where they were slaves (under the rule of the Pharoah Ramses II, according to tradition).

Dear Annisa,

Last year, there were more than 250 attacks on religious minorities in Indonesia. But instead of taking action to stop the violence, government policies increase their likelihood and don't even provide support for the victims.

Demand Indonesia reform the law to protect religious minorities.

Blasphemy laws in Indonesia only recognize six religions, and national worship center laws give more influence and power to majority religions. Officials often reject permits to build worship centers for minority religions and harass those who stand up for their rights.

Meanwhile, the attacks against minorities have grown more hostile and criminals are rarely -- if ever -- punished.

Freedom of religion is a fundamental right. Tell Indonesia you expect the government to respect the faithful of all religions.

Locking Cats Up Without Food or Water is NOT a Solution.

care2 petitionsite actionAlert action alert! Locking cats in basements without food and water is NOT the solution to rat infestation in Belarussian cities.
Please sign the petition today! Stop Abusing Cats to Deal With Rat Problems take action
please share it helps! share on facebook   share on twitter   share via email

Dear Annisa,

Some Belarus cities have a rat problem, but the solution they came up with to deal with it is unbelievably cruel. Authorities lock cats in basements -- no food, no water -- to deal with the rats.

Tell Belarus officials to stop this awful, abusive way to manage their rat problem.

Local citizens have reported hearing disturbing cries of thirst and hunger from the cats, and some have been admitted to feeding the poor animals through the iron plates used to seal them into the basements. Without kind samaritans, officials are simply condemning the cats to a long, slow, painful death from starvation and dehydration.

An animal rights leader estimates that 9,000 cats have been killed in Minsk alone in the last three years. This widespread practice needs to stop before we lose another 9,000.

Demand Belarus authorities stop locking cats in basements to "deal with" rats.

Guest Post: Valentine's Day from Kisseo eCards

You might have noticed we've been hibernating for the winter, but the inner romantic in all of us at FunnySpoon had to come out for Valentine's Day! So we teamed up with our friends at Kisseo eCards to give you some last-minute do's and don'ts for Valentine's Day. We wish you all a special day tomorrow!

Valentine's Day DinnerEither you're sick of all our Valentine's Day articles or you're excited for tomorrow! For those of you who aren't overloaded on candy hearts, we have one more post for you in our series and we feel like we've saved the best for last: What to Eat on Valentine's Day.

Because what's more exciting than indulgent food, right? OK, we can think of one thing but this isn't that type of blog!

With a little help from our friends at FunnySpoon.com, we've compiled the ultimate Eat vs. Don't Eat Guide for Valentine's Day. Get your appetites ready!

Avoid like the plague:

  • Ingredients that give you bad breath, leaving you unkissable at the end of the night. Examples: excessive amounts of onion or garlic.
  • Anything that could potentially get stuck in your teeth. Examples: Pesto and oregano.
  • Any foods that leave your stomach feeling unsettled so you have to cut the date short or make an embarrassing dash for the bathroom. Examples: Beans or Indian food.
  • Ingredients one of you could be allergic to. The last thing you want is to swell up like a chipmunk, break out in a rash or start coughing hysterically. Examples: strawberries, nuts, shellfish.
  • Food that is hard to eat. You'll be focusing on eating instead of conversing! Examples: lobster in the shell, escargot.
  • Anything with chopsticks unless you're both experienced. No need to complicated things!
  • Anything messy. 'Nuff said.
  • Anything that requires you to eat with your hands, other than sides like bread. Examples: oysters
  • Any dish too spicy runs the risk of breaking out in a sweat when you're trying to appear cool and collected. Examples: jalapenos, certain ethnic foods

Wondering what in the world is left? Try this easy and delicious V-day menu! It's ready in a snap so you can focus more on your date:
