Onam (Thiruonam) festival is on September 07 2014 (Sunday). Onam falls in thiruvonam Nakshathram of Chingam month of Malayalam Calendar which is from august mid to Spetember Mid. Malayalees celebrate it for ten days,

10 days onam 2014


Attam 2014 (1st Day)

This day is quite important as it is considered as auspicious and holy by Malayalees.Attam falls on 29th August 2014.

Chithira (2nd Day)

The second day is called Chithira. During this day, people wake up early in the morning and go to the nearest temples to pray

Chothi (3rd Day)

Also called as Chohdi, this is the day when people are starting to shop for materials and supplies they will use for the rest of the Onam days celebration.

Visakam (4th Day)

This is the 4th day of Onam. During this day, people’s excitement is becoming more intense.

Anizham (5th Day)

This is one of the more significant days of the festival of Onam.

Thriketa (6th Day)

On the Thriketa or the 6th day of Onam celebration, different cultural programs are held and organized by the state committees.

Moolam (7th Day)

The seventh day of Onam festival is known as Moolam.

Pooradam (8th Day)

The eight day has a special importance. During the Pooradam, people add more flowers to their Athappookalam.

Uthradam (9th Day)

On the 9th Day of the festival, people are more excited to welcome the spirit of their King Mahabali.

Thiruvonam (10th Day)

This is the most important day of Onam – the Thiruvonam.
