Diwali was originated from Ayodya. After killing the Demon king Ravana of SriLanka Prince Ram has returned to his kingdom. People of Ayodya was overwhelmed by the joy and happiness of their prince after 14 years of jungle stay as per the swear he has taken. So they decided to celebrate the festival by lighting lamps all around their house and streets.
