Navratri – the Nine Holy nights of durga – is animportant hindi festival. This is celebrated to honor the deity of power MaaDurga. People and hindu devotees worship Goddess durga during this festival.They offer prayers and chant bhajans as part of the celebrations. They alsoperform fasting as part of the navratri tradition and custom.

How to Perform Navratri Puja
Different materials and navratri puja items must beacquired before you can perform a puja. Here they are:
- Goddess Durga Idol (picture will do)
- 1 Kalash of water (pitcher)
- Durga Sapthashati book
- Coconut
- Chawal or Rice
- Supari or beetle nutes
- Kumkum
- Gulal
- Red holy thread (Moli)
- Red Tilak (Roli)
- Cardamom
- Cloves
- Mango leaves
- Incense Sticks
- Flowers (red hibiscus, lotus and rose)
- Sweets (peda, laddoo)
- Panchpatra with water and spoon
- Mat
- Bael leaves
Procedure
1. First, take a bath and wear clean clothes.2. Get the kalash or the pitcher filled with water. Then, put themango leaves on its lid.3. Put the coconut inside the water-filled kalash.4. Get the moli and tie it on the neck of the Kalash.5. Put your Maa Durga idol or picture in your pooja room. Worship itwith rice, kumkum, roli, flowers, gulal and balepatra.6. Then, in a clay pot, put burning coal. Pour some clarifiedbutter (ghee) on it. Put some meat on the fire. You may add more ghee on thefire in a regular phase. You have to make sure that the fire will be keeplighted all through the puja.7. Once you’re done, keep your hands folded and encircle it on thefire thrice. 8. Light some incense sticks and put it on the incense holder. Thereafter,you may start performing aarti. You can do this while chanting some navratriaarti like Devi Kavach or Durga Saptashati.
